Herb Grabell is a senior vice president with Kidder Mathews, specializing in transpacific goods movement, logistics strategies, and clean technology energy solutions. He is presently based in Ontario, California, assisting clients with goods movement supply chain strategies, including rail, that are tied to real estate projects between the U.S., China, and Mexico. In Southern California, he focuses on advisory solutions for the ports, from the Inland Empire to the Mexican border.
Mark Hirzel, Past President, LACFFA
Mark Hirzel brings over 25 years of Customs brokerage and logistics experience to the Los Angeles District Manager position. In this role, Mark oversees Deringer’s LA customer service center and supports its ongoing Customs brokerage and freight forwarding operations.
Having earned his individual Customs brokerage license in 1989, Mark has held a variety of operational, compliance, and management positions in the Customs brokerage and freight forwarding industry. He was most recently employed by a large, international logistics company as a Customs Consultancy Manager. Throughout his career, he has held positions of increasing responsibility within the realm of global trade management and Customs brokerage operations and automation.
Mark has a strong presence in the Southern California trade community, serving on the boards of numerous associations. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association, Inc., most recently as Chairman, President, Vice President, and Legislative Chair. Mark also holds a seat on the San Pedro Bay Supply Chain Optimization Working Group and serves on the Board of Directors for the nonprofit, International Seafarers Center of Long Beach, which maintains facilities and provides services for the recreational, personal, and cultural needs of merchant seamen calling at the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Marketing Management, with a concentration in International Marketing, from California Polytechnic University, in Pomona, California. Mark is an instructor for the California State University’s Long Beach Global Logistics Specialist Certificate program within the Center for International Trade and Transportation (CITT) and serves as a member of this program’s Policy and Steering Committee.
Wayne Wagner, President, LACFFA
Mr. Wayne Wagner is currently the Senior Manager for Brokerage Services for FedEx Trade Networks, a wholly owned subsidiary of FedEx Corporation. He was formerly the General Manager of the Southwest Region for FedEx Trade Networks. His current responsibilities include the management of the U.S. Customs Brokerage Services.
Wayne was formerly with Tower Group International and has thirty-three years experience in the Customs Brokerage-Logistics industry. He is a licensed Customs Broker and a Certified Customs Specialist. He is currently the President of the Los Angeles Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association. He is also a Board member of the National Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association.

Since 2010, Mr. Smith has focused his attention on cross-border B2C and B2B ecommerce in the health and wellness consumable products categories guiding industry leaders such as iHerb.com and S. Korean giant, Coupang.com in building scalable solutions to meet the demand of their global customers.

David Graham is an aviation executive with more than 35 years of aerospace maintenance experience and a successful track record of leadership at MROs and airlines. David’s extensive experience traces back to Braniff Airlines as an A&P Mechanic for 4 years, followed by 19 years at Northwest Airlines where he rose through the ranks from Aircraft Structures Mechanic to Director of Base Maintenance Operations. David subsequently held senior leadership positions in maintenance, operations and sales over his 10 years with Pacific Aerospace Resources & Technologies, a California based MRO. In 2012, David joined Unical 145, an affiliate of Uncial MRO, as Director of Operations where he guided the expansion of its MRO capabilities and its significant growth before moving to his role as General Manager of Unical MRO. David has an Airframe & Powerplant License from Colorado Aero Tech (Colorado).
